Contest Structure

The competition this year will be hybrid.

Students must submit their recorded presentation through the Registration Form no later than February 17th, 2023.

Winners will be selected to perform at the Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival on April 15, 2023
(Exact time to be announced).

Students can compete in one of two contests:

Speech contestants choose a Division, and then a Level.

Division:
High School Division or College Division
Level:
Level 1 (一年生) through Level 4 (四年生),
Heritage Level*

＊Heritage Level: For students form a Japanese-speaking household. Only available in the High School Division.

Skit contestants form a group of 3 to 5 people from their school. There are no divisions or levels in the Skit Contest, and all skit groups from high school and college compete against each other.

Although your students will be doing most of the work in preparing for the contest and registering, you will be asked to verify their information.

by February 17, 2023.

Students must also to uploaded the following flies to their Registration Forms:

Instructor Verification Form *
Video of speech or skit
Script of speech or skit

* The Instructor Verification Form allows you (the instructor) to verify that the information on your student's Registration Form is true and accurate. Both you and your student are required to sign it.
