Other Sake Uses

Sake-flavored steamed buns, called sake manju, are a very popular treat. They are made using a small amount of sake lee, red bean paste, and flour. When you go to Japan next time, don't forget to enjoy it!

Known as sake kasu in Japanese, sake lees are a by-product of Japanese sake production that contains 8% alcohol, has high nutritional value, and provides various health benefits.

Often referred to as narazuke, this dish consists of vegetables or fruit pickled in sake lees. Some popular examples include melon, watermelon, and radish. Try it with white rice!

Sake contains kojic acid, which brightens the skin by inhibiting melanin production. Kojic acid can help to correct discoloration, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, age spots, and acne scars.
